Aidan Millar
I’m a Support Worker at North East Community Workshop, where I help individuals with debilitating conditions gain a sense of independence and purpose in a work environment. My role is about more than just support — it’s about empowering people to discover their strengths, achieve their goals, and feel valued in what they do.
My career path has been varied, from trampoline instructor to bus and coach driver, to prison officer. Each role taught me something different, but it wasn’t until I joined North East Community Workshop that I found a job that truly felt right. The reward comes not from what I get out of it, but from seeing the difference it makes in the lives of the people I work with.
Having faced my own challenges with autism, I understand the importance of compassion, patience, and encouragement. That personal experience drives me to give others the same support I once needed myself.
Outside of work, I’m a car enthusiast, an aspiring world-record holder for lanyard collecting, and I have a long-term goal of travelling to every country in the world.
